# Agents cannot reach DevHub after I signed out, or the MCP server is off

> The MCP server stops whenever the session ends and starts again after the next sign-in.

**Symptom:** The MCP server shows Stopped, or an agent gets "sign in required" on every request.

**Cause:** The MCP server runs only while someone is signed in. Every end of a session stops it: signing out, a session that Vartari ID refuses or withdraws, the end of the 7 days, and offline access running out. DevHub does not start MCP at launch before you sign in, even when "Start MCP with the application" is on. Connections an agent keeps open are closed, and the agent runs and plan steps it held are lost, which the sign-out confirmation warns about.

**Solution:** Sign in to DevHub. After the sign-in, MCP starts again if it was running when the session ended, or if "Start MCP with the application" is on. If it does not, click **Start MCP** on the [Dashboard](/devhub/features/dashboard/index.md). A network that is away for a while does not stop MCP.

**Applies from:** 0.8.0

If the card shows **Error**, see [MCP server](/devhub/features/mcp-server/index.md).
